Indy Downtown Christmas Tree

So, I guess this is supposed to be the largest "christmas tree" in the nation, even though it's not a real tree... NYC must have the largest real tree. But it's over this Civil War Monument that they have downtown Indy. It was fun, and Ella loved to see the lights.

The whole plaza is decked out in lights and huge candy cane poles. There's always horse & carriage rides available that take you around downtown, and there's fun shops all around here as well. We stopped to get a bite to eat and warm up... it must've been like 20 degrees that night!

The monument is on this huge round-a-bout, and it just happened that this group of Mexican Dancers were doing a tribute dance all the way around it dressed in authentic costumes, in honor of the Saint of Guadalupe. They looked freezing to me, but it was fun to see.

Scary Santa

Every year I try to get a picture of my kids with Santa, and it always turns out bad... why is this guy so scary to kids? Cole probably wouldn't be screaming except he was hungry and we had been waiting in line to see Santa for 15 minutes and we were the last in line so it was either a crying baby on Santa's lap or no picture at all.
Ella was scared last year of him, so the night before our ward Christmas party we watched The Santa Claus movie to get her prepped that she was going to see Santa the next day, and she seemed really excited until he walked into the cultural hall... so me holding her next to him was the best we were going to get as far as pictures go.
