First Week in Santa Fe

Here's our new place in Santa Fe, the adobe housing here was probably one of the biggest shocks. It's like that here all over the city.  Everything is adobe and it's hard to recognize what it is I'm looking at since everything looks the same brown adobe style buildings and housing.
While in the midsts of unpacking, we had to see what this city had to offer.  We are still trying to get used to this desert lifestyle, but there's so much to do here and we're just getting started!  Our first weekend we planted a "garden" in pots with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, lettuce and green beans.
Then we took our kids to the local Rodeo for the kiddy carnival rides.  A quick fun weekend excursion.

Then we traveled an hour west into mountains and saw the Tent Rocks National Monument.  We took the kids on the 1 mile hike, which wasn't bad except for the crazy heat.  Cole had a little rough time during the hike and wanted to be carried, so Ella was gracious enough to help him with his troubles hiking (see top right in collage below)

This desert beauty is here... we just gotta learn to appreciate it, I guess.  We have gone up to the Santa Fe mountains which are green and lush and have lakes and rivers.... more to come on that!

Ugh, stucco and adobe.. I don't miss that. But the desert is so beautiful!! Your hiking pics make me homesick. You'll love the spring and fall when everything blooms.

My favorite thing about the desert is how well everything is adapted to the harsh conditions. Plants can look dead for years, then suddenly bloom with the smallest amount of rain. The storms are awesome, too.

I have looked at all these pics often and never wrote a comment. I miss you guys so bad and wish I could be there with you and help you with your new life in Santa Fe. I miss your kids so bad. I miss Ella's snuggles, Cole's sass, and Brocke's sweet smile and I miss face to face conversations with you and Scotty. I know you guys are going to do great things in Santa Fe and you are where you are supposed to be, but I miss the freakin crap out of you guys. Love you and keep posting. It makes me feel like I am part of your life... I will be better about mine, I promise!!!

It's definitely different, but the housing is kind of a fun change! Hope you are enjoying it out there!
